Baby L's Birthday Party

Baby L turned 1 on the 30th (see previous posts for her B-Day pictures and her 1st Year Update). We decided to have her birthday party on Saturday the 4th because my family usually has a barbecue on the 4th anyways, so it just made sense. (Oddly enough, both girls - L & M - had their birthday parties on their due dates this year. L was due the 4th or July but was born on the 30th of June and M was due on February 14th and was born February 7th). Anyways, the day before her party Mr. N helped me decorate her cake. He is the artistic creativity behind the cakes, and I do the work. We make a really good team. We decided to do a Monkey Cake for L because she loves to cling onto us like a little monkey, plus she has a little Beanie Baby Monkey that she adores. It seemed fitting.

Here's the finished cake. He (or she) turned out very cute!

We had the BBQ first, which was a lot of fun. It was nice because all 4 of my sisters came. It has been years and years since all 5 of us have been together. In the bottom right picture you can see L's Rib Mustache. We made these amazing ribs and L enjoyed a bite.

After eating lunch we sang happy birthday to the birthday girl!

She LOVED eating her cake. By the way, her outfit looks funny because it's one of those swim suits with chest floaters built into it. She looks like a body builder or something.

L took interest in my cutting the cake and decided she wanted to take a hack at it, which she did over and over again. And why not! It was, after all, her cake. :)

I love this picture of Mr. N and I.

After cake we braved a pinata. I was a little fearful of having a pinata because I've seen a lot of episodes of AFV, and there seem to be a lot of accidents when it comes to pinatas! But we made it through without any casualties, though there was a close call.

The girls had a lot of fun swimming in the pool with daddy.

Since the whole family was together, we tried to get a picture with most of L and M's cousins (two were missing).

We also got a picture of my parents daughters.

After a hard day of playing, Baby L took a nap with Daddy. I was so bummed that she spotted me when I took this picture. She did have her head down resting on Mr. N's chest before she heard me. It was a great party and we had a lot of fun!

Cute cake. It goes well with the "monkey" that seems to be in all children. I am glad that the kids had a fun 4th with their cousins and relatives.
