Baby L's First Year Review

Dear Baby L,
One year ago we welcomed you to the world. You father and I looked forward to your birth very much. We were so excited to have another precious baby girl come into our family. You made us laugh when you first came out by biting the doctor. You really were not a happy camper when you were born. I think you preferred being inside in your warm and cozy little home. You were absolutely beautiful and won our hearts instantly. Your big sister was thrilled to meet you as well, along with every other member of your family.

July 2008
We felt so blessed as you turned out to be a very easy baby. You were so laid back and only ever got up once, maybe twice during the night. As you mother, I was very grateful for that, but at the same time I never minded getting up with you. It was our special time, and I actually miss it now that it's gone. You loved being held and cuddled, and we, along with Little M, loved to fulfill that wish for you!

August 2008
You where quite a trooper as we packed up all our belonging and moved across the country when you were only 6 weeks old. We were so lucky to be able to spend some time with your Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents before we left. Life in NJ was a change for us, but you and you sister made us smile and laugh as we made the transition as a family.

September 2008
Life for us was certainly full of lots of hugs, kisses, and smiles.

October 2008

When you were about 4 months old you started sleeping with your hands behind your head, which really made us laugh. You still do that now! You also finally stopped screaming your head off when we gave you a bath and started enjoying yourself, which was a stress relief for all of us!

November 2008
In November we finally let you sleep in the same room as Little M. You both seemed thrilled with the arrangement.

December 2008

We had a very fun Christmas down in Virginia with you Aunt Tracey and Uncle Bryan. You started sitting up and were so proud of yourself. With any achievement you've made, you have loved receiving the praise for such achievements! You have the most expressive face as well! When you are happy your entire face lights up in happiness, and when you cry your whole face falls tragically in a way that makes all of us want to cry as well!

January 2009
By January we were all feeling a bit of cabin fever, so we roughed the cold weather and snow for a chance to play outside. You were also thrilled to be able to start eating solid foods, and wasted no time in making a grand old mess eating. Eating seems to be a very tactile experience for you. Not only does the food go in your mouth, but it also gets smeared in your hair and all over your body. It isn't an uncommon for us to have to bathe you 3 times in a day...once after every meal...simply because there's no other way to get all the mess off!

February 2009
In February we got to celebrate M's 2nd birthday and you finally got moved out of the pack-n-play and into M's old crib! You seemed very happy with your new bed, and it really was a lot more comfortable for you. You also started army crawling on M's birthday (the 7th) and one week later started crawling properly (the 14th). Mobility seemed to open all kinds of doors for you, and you were so happy to find out that you could chase us down if we left you behind.

March 2009
You waved for the first time in March. It was so fun to watch, and even better that I happened to have the camera pointed at you right as you did it!

April 2009

The weather finally warmed up in April, but then the rain started. Amidst the rain, we still found plenty of opportunities for walks, days at the beach, going to the park and just playing outside.

June 2009

Now you are 1, and we can't believe it! You are walking and even talking a little bit. This past year has gone by so fast, and we have treasured the time we have had with you. It is hard to imagine our family without your ray of sunshine. It would never be the same. We love you and look forward to another wonderful year!
Love,
Mom and Dad
